Warm up: Have you ever been target shooting? What was your experience?
Read Matthew 6:1-33
Jesus repeats the words "Father," "reward," and "hypocrite" throughout Matthew 6. What do you think He wanted His listeners to notice through that repetition? What stood out to you?
Jesus warns against doing spiritual things to be seen by others. In our culture today, what are some subtle ways we can seek the approval of people more than the approval of our Heavenly Father? How can we cultivate "an audience of One"?
Read Matthew 6:19–24. Jesus says, "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." What are some things that compete for your heart and attention? How can you tell when something good has become an ultimate priority?
Read Matthew 6:25–34. Jesus doesn't just tell us not to worry—He gives us something better to pursue: "Seek first the kingdom of God." What worries tend to pull your focus away from God's kingdom? How does seeking Him first reshape the way you think about those concerns?
What's one practical way you can "seek first the kingdom of God" this week? Be specific. Is there a relationship to invest in, a spiritual habit to begin, a worry to surrender, or an act of obedience God is inviting you into?
