Shine Conference 2026 - This is a great week just to connect and get to know the people in the group!
Main Passage: Acts 1:8
Big Idea: Every follower of Jesus is called to participate in His mission, both locally and globally.
Warm-Up Question
Have you ever traveled somewhere that was completely different from what you were used to? What surprised you most about the experience?
Head Questions
Engaging our minds to understand what Scripture teaches about missions.
Read Acts 1:6–11 together.
What does it mean to be a witness for Jesus? How is being a witness different from simply telling someone about Jesus?
Why do you think Jesus tells His disciples that they will receive power from the Holy Spirit before telling them to be His witnesses?
Jesus mentions Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth. What do these different places represent, and how might they apply to our lives today?
Do you think Jesus is giving His disciples a sequence of places to reach, or calling them to reach all these places? Why?
Does every Christian have a responsibility to participate in global missions, even if they never personally travel overseas? Why or why not?
Heart Questions
Examining our attitudes, motivations, and desires toward God's mission.
How does knowing that the Holy Spirit empowers us change the way we approach sharing our faith?
Hands Questions
Moving from understanding God's mission to participating in it.
What are some practical ways we can support missionaries beyond financial giving?
What is one specific step you could take this week to be more intentional about fulfilling Acts 1:8?
Closing Prayer
Spend time praying for three things:
Our Jerusalem: Pray for people in our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and community who don't know Jesus.
Our Judea and Samaria: Pray for people in surrounding communities and those who are culturally different from us.
The ends of the earth: Pray for our missionaries, unreached people groups, and opportunities to advance the Gospel around the world.
